Angel Di Maria wants to return to the Premier League in 2019. That is according to The Mirror anyway, with the Argentine’s thunder being stolen at PSG by the marquee additions of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

But who could grant Di Maria’s wish? Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea appear to have no real need for the former Real Madrid winger while Tottenham and Arsenal are better off spending their money elsewhere.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are not an option for obvious reasons.

So how about Wolverhampton Wanderers? These days, anything feels possible at Molineux with their billionaire Chinese owners willing to put their money where their mouth is in order to turn the Black Country side into genuine contenders for European football.

And with super-agent Jorge Mendes pulling the strings, Wolves have shown that they can lure genuinely top quality players to Molineux like seasoned Portugal internationals Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio. Wolves now should be a more tempting destination than ever, after their flying start to life in the top flight.

And with Mendes counting Di Maria as one of his most high-profile clients, it is impossible to rule out the idea of the sprightly wide-man lining up in gold next year.

Signing Di Maria would certainly be a statement, a sign that Wolves are serious about taking on the established order at the top of English football.

PSG paid £45 million to sign Di Maria from Manchester United in 2015, according to Sky Sports.
