Nacer Chadli has been heavily tipped to depart West Bromwich Albion this summer but where will Belgium’s World Cup star end up?

It has been expected for some time that Nacer Chadli had played his final game for West Bromwich Albion.

Reports in TRT Sport a week ago claimed that the Baggies were set to cash in on the winger having placed a price-tag on his head of around £9 million. It was understood that Turkish giants Besiktas were interested.

But, in a surprise twist of fate, could Chadli perhaps be tempted to remain at The Hawthorns and play a major role as Darren Moore’s side aim to escape the second tier at the first attempt?

According to the Mail, Graeme Jones is in the running to join West Brom as an assistant coach to the popular Moore. But why would hiring a 48-year-old former Everton and Wigan coach be key to Chadli’s future?

Well, because Jones was Belgium’s number three alongside Roberto Martinez and Thierry Henry as Chadli’s Red Devils finished third at this summer’s World Cup. And the West Brom winger was one of his nation’s standout performers in the latter stages; famously scoring that last-gasp winner against Japan in the round of 16 that was later voted as the BBC Goal of the Tournament.

Jones helped get the best out of Chadli over in Russia and Moore should be backing him to have a similar impact on the former Tottenham and FC Twente man at The Hawthorns. Chadli has the quality to be one of very best players in the Championship if he stays and, if given the opportunity, West Brom should jump at the chance to keep him.
