Oumar Niasse could not keep Hull City up but could get the second chance to be a hero if Everton sell him to Premier League strugglers West Bromwich Albion.
Oumar Niasse proved during a loan spell at Hull City in the second half of last season that he was a little better than Everton made him out to be.
Niasse never got a look in under Ronald Koeman at Goodison, and was famously stripped of his squad number and locker, but made a far more positive impact on Humberside. The Senegalese striker netted four league goals for the Tigers, including one in a win against Liverpool and a match-winning brace against Swansea City.
In the end, however, Niasse’s goals were not enough to keep Hull in the Premier League. Although, one year on, he could have the opportunity to act as a saviour once again.
Because The Guardian reports that Everton are ready to sell Niasse despite his impressive tally of five goals in five league starts in 2017/18. Crystal Palace and West Brom are interested and can strike a deal if they meet the Toffees’ £13 million asking price.
West Brom, in particular, are crying out for an aggressive, hard-working and passionate striker like the former Lokomotiv Moscow man.
Bottom of the table Swansea are the only team in the Premier League who have hit the net fewer times than Alan Pardew’s men this season and Niasse looks an immediate upgrade on either Salomon Rondon or Hal Robson-Kanu.
In truth, Pardew has the basis of a mid-table side. West Brom have a good goal-scorer, a solid defence, an experienced midfield and enough speed and creativity in Jay Rodriguez and Matt Phillips.
Niasse could be the final piece of the jigsaw. But could he do what he never could at Hull and fire West Brom to safety?
