Premier League duo Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in Yaya Toure after his departure from Manchester City.

It seems that a colossal yet classy central midfielder is high on Everton’s list of priorities this summer. And latest reports suggest that they will pay £40 million for a 26-year-old rather than bring in a free agent almost ten years his senior.

The Mirror stated last week that Everton could be willing to offer Yaya Toure a fresh start in the Premier League after his contract at Manchester City expired.

But A Bola is now stating that they have entered talks with Sporting Lisbon’s Portuguese international William Carvalho instead. The alleged Monaco and Inter Milan target is keen to leave the Estadio Jose Alvalade this summer and Sporting will listen to offers of £40 million.

So this could open the door for Wolverhampton Wanderers to mark their return to the Premier League with the signing of one of the greatest midfielders ever to grace the competition.

The Mirror stated that Wolves too were interested in a marquee deal for Toure, who has made it clear that he wants to stay in England after eight years, and three league titles, at the Etihad.

Toure may be 34 and past his best but that does not mean he should be put on the scrapheap just yet. He remains a hugely experienced and influential midfielder whose class and composure on the ball means he would surely make a major impact at Molineux.

And reports that Everton would rather pay a huge fee for a long-term option means Wolves’ chances of pulling off one of the summer’s most eye-catching deals have been given a boost.
