Iran’s World Cup star Milad Mohammadi is out of contract in the summer, having been linked with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Jeremy Toljan of Borussia Dortmund controls the ball during the friendly match against SF Lotte at the Frimo Stadion on November 16, 2018 in Lotte, Germany.

Celtic might have snapped up Jeremy Toljan on transfer deadline day, but whether the German flyer is the long-term answer to their right-back problem remains to be seen.

As reported by the Scottish Sun, the former Hoffenheim wide man is on loan at the Hoops until the end of the season, but there is no clause in his contract to make the deal permanent in the summer.

There is a chance, then, that Celtic could be forced into the market again in just four months’ time. So Brendan Rodgers and co should not forget about Milad Mohammadi.

One of the breakout stars at the 2018 World Cup, Celtic have been heavily linked with the 25-year-old in recent months. The Scottish Sun reported in the Autumn that he was on their radar before they turned their attention to Toljan.

But the fact that Mohammadi will be a free agent in the summer should not go unnoticed. The defender is currently playing in Russia for Akhmat Grozny and, after they failed to find a buyer in January, he looks certain to leave for absolutely nothing.

Like Toljan, Mohammadi is an attack-minded and versatile full-back capable of playing on the left or the right. So he should still be at the back of Celtic’s minds as Toljan’s long-term future remains up in the air.
