Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are reportedly set to sign Maryan Shved from Ukrainian outfit Karpaty Lviv.

Reports from the Scottish Sun earlier this month that Lee Congerton could be on his way out of Celtic elicited a powerful response from the Parkhead faithful. And the fact that so many wanted him gone spoke volumes.
The Hoops’ chief scout has been the subject of plenty of criticism after a series of underwhelming and ill-fated signings.
During last January’s disaster ridden transfer window, Charly Musonda, Lewis Morgan and forgotten man Marvin Compper all signed, three deals that do not reflect well on Congerton’s decision making.
And comments made by manager Brendan Rodgers to the Scottish Sun about the seemingly impending arrival of Ukrainian winger Maryan Shved suggests that this is another deal with Congerton’s fingerprints all over it.
“He’s been watched and looked at but I can’t say I know a great deal about him,” Rodgers said of Shved, who is set to arrive from Karpaty Lviv for £1.75 million, before confirming that he is likely to leave on loan for the second half of the season once his deal is completed.

“We’ve got about a million wingers and don’t need another one. But he’s a talent and in the summer we’ll probably lose wingers and he’ll look to come in.”
It’s fair to assume this is not a signing Rodgers has demanded.
The odd YouTube montage paints Shved as an exciting wide man capable of scoring magnificent goals from long range but some cobbled-together video clips only say so much.
Can Congerton’s reputation really survive another transfer mistake?
