Championship hopefuls Aston Villa want West Brom’s right-back and the Baggies’ Premier League relegation could make Alan Hutton a target.

Could West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa exchange right-backs this summer?
The 33-year-old Scot has been one of the Championship’s most impressive full-backs this season and would offer experience and versatility to a West Brom side who look certain to be relegated from the Premier League, regardless of that bizarre 1-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

The former Rochdale man, who moved to The Hawthorns as a promising centre-half but has carved out a respectable career on the flanks instead, could be one of the first players to bid farewell to West Brom when relegation is confirmed and Villa, if promoted, could offer him an immediate return to the Premier League.
Although a typical swap deal is not possible given Hutton will be a free agent and is able to choose his own destination, it would be interesting to see Villa’s first-choice right-back rock up at local rivals West Brom and vice versa.

Given that Hutton is proven in the Championship and Dawson likewise in the Premier League, this move could work out well for everyone.
