Rangers target Allan McGregor has signed off at Championship side Hull City in style ahead of an expected return to Ibrox.

Hull City have not given up in keeping Allan McGregor at the KCOM Stadium next season.

But, with the 36-year-old goalkeeper’s contract expiring in just a couple of weeks’ time, he is free to leave as things stand, and, according to the Scottish Sun, an emotional return to Rangers is on the cards.

Though if McGregor does leave Hull, as is expected, he has certainly gone out on the right note. The popular Scot won The Tigers’ annual Player of the Year award on Tuesday on the back of an excellent individual season in which he proved beyond all doubt that age is just a number.

McGregor has produced some sensational saves this season, and without his heroics between the sticks, there might have been a good chance that Hull would have gone into the last day of the Championship season with their lives on the line like Burton, Barnsley and Bolton.

But while the Hull fans will be sad to see him go, the Rangers supporters are already welcoming the three time Scottish Premiership champion back with open arms.

The Scottish Sun state that McGregor will sign a two-year contract with the club he left back in 2012 – and if he can maintain his brilliant recent form in Glasgow then he could be collecting individual accolades this time next year too.
