Peter Crouch may be better remembered for his time at Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, but the man himself still has a great deal of fondness for Queens Park Rangers.

Crouch, now 37, spent time in QPR’s youth team before returning to Loftus Road for the 2000/01 season. The long-limbed centre-forward proved to be a revelation at QPR, scoring 12 times, but the club’s relegation to the then third-tier meant he left having made just 42 appearances before a £1.5 million move to Portsmouth.

Speaking to ITV Sport, the current Stoke City striker has admitted that he would love to return to QPR before his footballing career comes to an end.

“I’ve played for quite a few clubs but quite a few of them I hold dearly, really. I think QPR is one of my favourites because that’s where I started,” Crouch said.

“My friends and family are QPR fans, as well, so that’s one that is really close to my heart and I always said I would go back there one day and I would love to go back there.”

And it seems he would be welcomed back with open arms and not just for sentimental reasons.

Crouch, standing at 6ft 7ins, remains a formidable aerial threat and a potentially excellent source of goals in the Championship; one area where Steve McClaren’s QPR have been lacking this season.
