Everton signed Theo Walcott from Premier League rivals Arsenal and he scored the winner against Newcastle United at Goodison Park.
Theo Walcott scored the only goal in a dreadful game on Monday night as an uninspired Everton side edged out a similarly lacklustre Newcastle United at Goodison Park.
And this is exactly why Everton paid £20 million for the former Arsenal speedster, according to The Telegraph – to turn drab draws into potentially crucial victories.
The 29-year-old has certainly done his bit so far. Walcott might have only scored three times and set up one more in 12 appearances since moving to The Toffees in January but, every time has contributed to a goal, Everton have ended up on the winning side.
And it seems that, while Walcott makes himself at home on Merseyside, Arsenal fans still have not come to terms with the fact that he was allowed to leave in January.
The Gunners sold pretty much their entire frontline three months back, losing Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United and letting Olivier Giroud join Chelsea after bringing an end to Walcott’s 12-year stay at the Emirates Stadium.
And while the former Southampton wonderkid never quite lived up to his potential, he was a real favourite among large sections of the Arsenal support for this intelligent finishing and nice guy attitude.
And it seems that The Gunners fans would welcome him back with open arms given the chance.
