Anyone who tuned into the Primeira Liga clash between Benfica and Sporting on Saturday will have been thrilled by the exhilarating display of a 19-year-old by the name of Joao Felix.

Not only did the teenager become the youngest player ever to score in a Lisbon derby, he lit up the game with an extraordinary performance that further established him as one of the brightest young talents in world football today.

No wonder West Ham want him, along with almost every other club in Europe.

According to AS, the Hammers are stepping up their interest in Felix and made an approach after Benfica’s 1-1 draw against their green-and-white clad neighbours, asking how much it would take to bring the attacking midfielder to England.

Benfica are understood to have rejected a £50 million bid from a rival Premier League side in January and don’t want to sell for a penny less than his £105 million release clause.

But, if West Ham can somehow get their claws on Felix, they will be signing a player who has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Phillipe Coutinho and co.
