Lewis Grabban scored his first Championship goal under Sabri Lamouchi during Nottingham Forest’s draw with Leeds United last time out.
Birmingham City coach Pep Clotet has warned his side that they must watch out for the ‘always dangerous’ Lewis Grabban during Saturday’s Championship clash against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, while speaking to the Birmingham Mail.
A £6 million signing from Bournemouth in the summer of 2018 (BBC), Grabban has a real challenge on his hands if he is to exceed the 16 goals he scored during an impressive debut season in the East Midlands.
But the experienced striker did get the new campaign up and running with the most scrappy of equalisers during last weekend’s 1-1 draw away at Leeds United. That was Grabban’s only shot on goal in an otherwise anonymous display.
So no wonder Clotet wants Birmingham to keep very close tabs on the former Norwich star tomorrow.
“Both wings are strong, as well as Grabban,” said the former Leeds coach, who also enthused about the quality of Michael Dawson and Albert Adomah. “He managed to score a goal in Leeds despite not having a fantastic game, he’s always dangerous.
“Dawson has a dangerous switch that gets Adomah in attacking situations, it’s something that hurts teams.”
Clotet has clearly done his homework but will that be enough for Birmingham to hand new Forest coach Sabri Lamouchi a second successive home defeat to start his reign at the two-time European Champions?
The Blues have conceded just one goal in two Championship games so far against Brentford and Bristol City with Kristian Pedersen and Marc Roberts particularly impressive in the early weeks of the Clotet era. Yet both Pedersen and Roberts will need to be on the ball again to stop Grabban finding the net.
