Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been tipped to take over at Real Madrid in some quarters.

The rise of Tottenham Hotspur in recent seasons has been inexorably connected to Mauricio Pochettino.

It is he who has turned Spurs into genuine Premier League title contenders since taking over in 2014, while also guiding the North London side into the Champions League. Furthermore, countless players have blossomed into world-class talents under the Argentine boss, including Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

With a stunning, newly-built stadium on the way, Spurs will be desperate to keep hold of Pochettino as they embark on a new era.

So the vacant managerial hot seat at Real Madrid hangs over North London like a cloud.

Speaking on Alan Brazil Sport’s Breakfast on talkSPORT (6 November, 9:00am), former Tottenham forward Clive Allen sees no reason to fear for Pochettino’s future.

“I do think he’s committed to Spurs. The lure of Real Madrid is immense for anybody, if you’re a manger the Real job perhaps comes along once if you’re very lucky,” Allen said.

“(But) Mauricio sees what’s happening at Spurs, the club is moving forward in a massive way and he wants to be part of that. I don’t see him leaving at this point of his career.”

According to the Sun, Real Madrid were willing to pay £15 million a year to lure Pochettino back to Spain as the successor for Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked after a humiliating 5-1 Classico defeat to Barcelona.

But it is understood that Pochettino has told Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy that he has no intention of leaving, with the uncertainty behind the scenes at Madrid putting him off arguably the most high-profile job in world football.
