Southampton loaned highly-rated winger Josh Sims to Championship side Reading in the summer and he is starting to make an impact.

Josh Sims has a habit of making a good first impression.
The Southampton starlet was the Man of the Match on his Premier League debut against Everton in November 2016, putting in a sparkling attacking display and setting up Charlie Austin’s winner for the only goal of the game.
Since moving on loan to Reading in the summer, Sims has again stood out in the early stages of the season. The 21-year-old has made four appearances off the bench so far, with Royals boss Paul Clement utilising him as an impact sub against tired legs in the latter stages.

And it is fair to say Clement’s tactics worked out perfectly at Deepdale on Saturday. Sims was introduced with just 11 minutes to go away at Preston and set up the winning goal in stoppage time, a sudden burst of acceleration preceding a pinpoint cross to Leonardo Bacuna. The Dutchman could not miss from point blank range.
A number of Reading fans seem to be smitten with this latest fresh-faced talent to emerge from the famous St. Mary’s academy. On this kind of form, Mark Hughes should be planning a future role for Sims in his plans at Southampton.
