Rosenborg’s Birger Meling shone against Celtic in Champions League qualifying but could he replace Kieran Tierney at Parkhead?

Birger Meling certainly aced his audition.
Since July 2017, Rosenborg have played Celtic four times in the qualifying stage for the Champions League. And while the Norwegian giants might have been beaten over two legs both times by their Scottish counterparts, Meling still managed to catch the eye.
Aggressive and attack-minded at left-back, the former Middlesbrough youngster even scored at Parkhead in a 3-1 defeat 13 months ago. Driving forward with pace and purpose, Meling finished off a flowing move by punching the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Celtic fans certainly haven’t forgotten this little blond bombshell. Neither has the club itself.

With a new left-back a must before the end of the month following Kieran Tierney’s move to Arsenal last week, the Scottish Sun reports that Meling has played his way on to Celtic’s wish list.
The 24-year-old is open to a move after winning two league titles with Rosenborg and The Sun believes that he could be on his way to the UK to provide competition for Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo on the flank.
While links with Kilmarnock’s Greg Taylor have left supporters divided, it seems that Meling would arrive with the full backing of the green and white army.
