Rangers were impressive in their 2-0 Scottish Premiership victory agaisnt St Mirren at Ibrox – Steven Gerrard’s first win in charge.

Celtic legend Chris Sutton could not help but praise three of Rangers’ new signings in his second Team of the Week of the new Scottish Premiership season.
After dropping points in heartbreaking fashion against Aberdeen last week when teenager Bruce Anderson fired home a barely-deserved stoppage-time equaliser, Rangers won a league game for the first time under Steven Gerrard at home to St Mirren.
Alfredo Morelos put last week’s red card drama behind him with the opener before Connor Goldson opened his account for the Gers, heading home a fine cross from debutant left-back Borna Barisic to seal a 2-0 win.
Goldson and Barisic, who both celebrated clean sheets against the Buddies, were included in Sutton’s back four. Lassana Coulibaly (below), who already looks like the pick of Gerrard’s signings, was included too after another impressively energetic display in the centre of the park.

Kyle Lafferty got the nod in attack and it will be interesting to see whether he too is wearing Rangers blue by the end of August.
The Northern Ireland striker scored a fine winner in Hearts’ 1-0 success against Celtic and, according to the Express, Rangers are desperately trying to bring him back to Ibrox by offering Lee Wallace in return.
