Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are eight points adrift of Old Firm neighbours Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Chris Sutton believes Rangers need to beat Celtic at home and away if they are to stand any chance of keeping the title race alive, speaking to the Daily Record.
The Gers have been much improved since Steven Gerrard took over at the helm last summer but they are still second in the Scottish Premiership with two months of the season remaining, sitting eight points adrift of Old Firm rivals Celtic.
A title race appeared to be on the cards when Rangers beat Celtic 1-0 at Ibrox in December, deservedly so too, but the Hoops have pulled clear since the turn of the year and are clear favourites despite losing manager Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City.
And former Bhoys striker Sutton believes the title is Celtic’s to lose – and it could be as good as over already if Rangers don’t get a result away at Hibernian tonight.
“If Rangers don’t win at Easter Road on Friday night the league is as good as done,” Sutton told the Daily Record.
“I still think Steven Gerrard’s side will need to win both remaining Old Firm games to even stand a chance of taking it to the wire. It’s a stretch, to say the least.”

Whatever happens between now and the end of the season, it cannot be argued that Rangers have made great strides under the former Liverpool captain Gerrard.
If they can keep hold of 28-goal top scorer Alfredo Morelos, and sign loanees Ryan Kent and Joe Worrall permanently, they will be well placed to challenge for a first title since 2012 in the very near future.
