Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly refused to give up on bringing Aston Villa’s 16-goal Championship striker Abraham to the Premier League.
Wolverhampton Wanderers’ potential deal to sign Tammy Abraham is not dead just yet.
The Chelsea loanee was reported to have turned down a move to Molinuex on Tuesday, meaning he looked set to stay on loan at Aston Villa for the rest of the season.
The BBC, however, claimed that Wolves were not willing to give up so easily. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are understood to be still interested in the England international and could attempt to reignite the deal before the end of the month.
Though if Wolves want to sign Abraham on a permanent basis, they will have to pay a lot more than their mooted £18 million bid, as reported by The Sun.
The Mirror are stating that Chelsea have raised the striker’s price tag to a remarkable £50 million, which is £14 million more than they are demanding for the Bayern Munich target Callum Hudson-Odoi.
As a result, Wolves’ billionaire owners would have to dig very deep into their pockets to fund a deal that would make Abraham comfortably the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
The BBC believes that Wolves have asked FIFA about whether Abraham would be eligible to play for them in the second half of the season, given that footballers are banned from representing three different clubs in the same campaign.
Abraham, who has scored 16 goals in 20 Championship starts for Villa, featured in Chelsea’s Community Shield defeat to Manchester City but it is uncertain whether this counts as a ‘competitive’ fixture.
