Championship trio Aston Villa, Leeds United and Wolves were all linked with Czech Republic international Michal Krmencik during the January window.

Croatian outlet Jutarnji List stated that Championship duo Wolves and Aston Villa were keen, and Plzen CEO Adolf Sadek has insisted that Leeds United also made a move.
“In the summer (of 2017), Slavia Prague came in, Leeds in the winter, then Montpellier, Bordeaux, eventually Newcastle .The bids were extraordinary,” Sadek told Lidovky.
Leeds were linked with a number of strikers during the January window, but no one arrived at Elland Road to take the pressure off the inconsistent Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
And Leeds’ hopes of bringing Krmencik to West Yorkshire might be over for good now. Because the Mail reported in late January that Plzen valued the 24-year-old at around £10 million after Newcastle United made an enquiry.
That would mean Leeds would have to make Krmencik their most expensive signing since Robbie Fowler arrived from Liverpool for £11 million all the way back in 2001.
And despite Krmencik’s remarkable goal-scoring form in the Czech Republic, that would be a big risk for a striker who remains something of an unknown quantity.
