Snodgrass is one of the Premier League’s finest wingers but the Celtic fan hasn’t been at his best in West Ham colours.

With the exception of Carl Jenkinson, his bedroom’s décor a purely Arsenal theme , the modern day footballer often keeps his childhood team under wraps for fear of raising suspicions about their commitment. Not Robert Snodgrass.

“I trained at Celtic when I was a kid. I used to train at Rangers as well. I wore my Celtic shorts underneath my Rangers shorts when I trained there!” the Scotland international winger told the Daily Record.

Therefore, when the news broke in December that Hull City’s talisman could be on his way out of the KCom Stadium the following month, it was inevitable that links with Celtic weren’t too far away.

The Daily Record even went as far as to claim that Snodgrass had his heart set on realising his bhoyhood dream and was even willing to take a substantial pay cut to facilitate a deal, only for Brendan Rodgers to make clear that he had no interest in the set-piece specialist.

At the time, such a decision seemed like a wasted opportunity. Despite the impressive form of Patrick Roberts, Scott Sinclair and James Forrest, Snodgrass’ inspirational performances in Hull colours, including seven goals and three assists, made him one of the league’s most dangerous attacking threats.

Though West Ham fans can only dream of such statistics or, indeed, influential performances. Since signing the 29-year-old for £10.2 million in January, as reported by the BBC, Snodgrass is yet to score or create a goal for Slaven Bilic’s side while his performance level has dipped alarmingly.

He did manage to create six clear chances for his team-mates in the 2-2 draw with West Brom last month but that performance has been a rare bright spark so far. The best is yet to come, of course, and Snodgrass will certainly come good in claret and blue when Bilic discovers the best way to utilise his talents.

But, as it stands, Rodgers will not be enduring too many sleepless nights.
