Oliver Burke is on loan at Scottish Premiership champions Celtic after a miserable spell in the Championship with West Bromwich Albion.
Celtic might have failed to progress to the group stages of the Champions League this season but the sales of Moussa Dembele and Stuart Armstrong to Lyon and Southampton respectively means there is no shortage of cash reserves at Parkhead.
According to the Scottish Sun, Celtic have £15 million in the bank and such a sum could be put to very good use – perhaps in the transfer market next summer.
After all, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has made no secret that he would love to sign Oliver Burke permanently from West Bromwich Albion after the winger’s outstanding start to life north of the border (Scottish Sun).
The 21-year-old has scored three goals in four Premiership appearances already, the most recent coming in the 2-0 win against Hibernian last week.
Burke’s pace and power has given Celtic a different dimension in attack while he has impressed in an unfamiliar centre-forward role, having started out as an explosive winger during his time at Nottingham Forest.
Now, West Brom paid £15 million to sign Burke from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2017, according to the Express and Star, and they would surely consider selling him if Celtic were willing to recoup their investment.
The Hoops’ current record signing is the £9 million striker Odsonne Edouard – but Burke’s rapid start to life in green and white suggests that he could be worth every penny.
