Premier League Crystal Palace are reportedly hoping to sign Moussa Dembele from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic again.

Crystal Palace missed out on signing Moussa Dembele on January deadline day because, according to the Scottish Sun, Celtic obviously didn’t want to sell their star striker with four months of the season remaining.

But it seems that Palace have a much better chance this time around. According to the Daily Record, Crystal Palace are among the multitude of teams looking at the former Fulham striker.

And, after somehow hanging onto Dembele amid relentless speculation last summer, the report adds that Celtic have accepted that their French phenomenon is likely to be on his way before the summer is out.

But is Dembele the man to solve Crystal Palace’s biggest problem – sticking the ball in the back of the net? On paper, yes.

The 21-year-old has been prolific since he moved to Celtic from Fulham in 2016. He hit 32 goals in a remarkable debut season and managed another 16 last season as the Hoops won the domestic treble for the second time in a row.

Yes, Palace fans may point out that the gap in quality between the English and Scottish top flights remains rather large but Dembele looks more a Henrik Larsson than a Kris Boyd, a genuine top drawer talent who has the potential to take his game to a whole new level.

Powerful yet quick and silky, Dembele could be the natural-born goalscorer Crystal Palace are crying out for. With the Daily Record reporting that he’s valued at £20 million, he wouldn’t break the bank either.
