If rumours are believed, Celtic have joined the race for a reported Rangers target.

According to The Bristol Post, Celtic are now interested in signing Rangers-linked midfielder Graeme Shinnie.

It was only last month when Steven Gerrard was credited with an interest [The Express] and if their Old Firm rivals get him, the Gers boss might be frustrated.

That is because the Hoops don’t really need the Aberdeen captain anywhere near as much as Rangers do.

He wouldn’t get a game ahead of Scott Brown this season or next season and although Celtic will have to replace their long-term skipper eventually, Shinnie isn’t the next-level signing needed to lead the Bhoys to titles after Brown calls it a day.

Rangers, on the other hand, do need someone like Shinnie.

For them, the 27-year-old would represent a cracking signing but, with Celtic reportedly in the mix, the Dons star, who already didn’t fancy Ibrox [The Express], might have another reason to snub Gerrard.
