West Ham United could reportedly sign Fenerbahce’s captain, but Scottish Premiership champions Celtic need a left-back, too.

Celtic are crying out for a new left-back.
Kieran Tierney’s injury issues in the second half of last season exposed the lack of depth available to Neil Lennon. And with Emilio Izaguirre rejecting the chance to extend a contract which expires this summer (Herald Scotland), Jonny Hayes will become the closest thing Celtic have to a convincing back-up in a specialist position.
So West Ham should not have it all their own way in the chase for Hasan Ali Kaldirim.
According to the BBC, the Hammers have contacted the Fenerbahce’s captain’s representatives and could be about to trigger the very affordable £4.4 million release clause in his contract.

Now, £4.4 million is hardly a drop in the ocean even for the top club in Scottish football but, for a 30-time international blessed with leadership skills, top level experience and the ability to play in defensive midfield too, it makes Kaldirim look like excellent value for money.
The Sun claimed in January 2017 that Celtic had expressed an interest in the German-born Turkey international and they are arguably even more in need of quality depth at left-back two years on.
