Celtic made bookies’ joint-favourites to sign Swansea City’s Lukas Fabianski

Swansea City look set to lose Lukas Fabianski after bidding goodbye to the Premier League but is a move to Celtic on the cards?

It would be a major surprise if Lukas Fabianski was still a Swansea City player next season.

The Polish shot-stopper was by far the Swans’ best player in 2017/18 as their seven-year stay in the Premier League came to an end, producing a number of virtuoso displays to ensure the South Wales side kept their hopes alive until the final week of the season.

Fortunately for Fabianski, however, the Guardian reports that Swansea will allow him to jump ship this summer for just £5 million, which has allegedly caught the attention of numerous Premier League sides including West Ham, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Watford.

Interestingly, however, BetVictor have made Celtic 8/1 joint favourites to sign the 33-year-old this summer alongside the four English sides who have already been linked.

The former Arsenal ‘keeper Fabianski would arguably be an upgrade on any of the shot-stoppers currently at Brendan Rodgers’ disposal north of the border but it would still be a surprise if the Scottish Premiership champions were to make an approach.

After all, they signed Scott Bain from Dundee on a four-year deal only a month ago while Craig Gordon and Dorus de Vries remain at Parkhead as things stand.

But, with Celtic keen to maintain their dominance of Scottish football, Rodgers has been ruthless this summer with the likes of Erik Sviatchenko and Nadir Ciftci being dispensed. Signing Fabianski would arguably make the Hoops an even more daunting proposition.
