Filip Benkovic impressed at Celtic last season, on loan.

Celtic were interpreted to have ruled out another loan move for Leicester City’s Filip Benkovic this past weekend.
The Hoops released a statement thanking all the players that departed Parkhead this summer, and Benkovic’s name was among the acknowledged.
There was definitely a sense that Celtic wouldn’t be re-signing the big defender this season, but could they?
It doesn’t look like the Leicester centre-back knows what’s happening with his future at the moment.
Benkovic, a £13 million signing by the Foxes last summer [Sky Sports], told Press Association that although he wants to play in the Premier League, he doesn’t know what Brendan Rodgers is planning.
He said: “I believe in myself and I believe I can be in the Premier League. It would be great to work with Brendan Rodgers again because we had a very good connection at Celtic. He gave me a chance and I’m very grateful for that. I’m looking forward to next season.
“The plan is to go to prepare with the team and then we’ll see. I’ll go to Leicester and then we’ll speak, I’m quite relaxed.”
Beyond pre-season training, Benkovic appears to be in the dark over whether Rodgers plans to keep him or loan him out, and it’s certainly worth Celtic boss Neil Lennon asking a question.
Rodgers, who quit the Bhoys in February, told The Record in May: “The plan is to go to prepare with the team and then we’ll see. I’ll go to Leicester and then we’ll speak, I’m quite relaxed.”
Benkovic going back to Scotland certainly has legs and Lennon should definitely enquire.
