Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers want Harry Wilson at Ibrox this summer, according to The Scottish Sun, which has also claimed that Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is interested in a season-long loan deal for the Liverpool winger, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Hull City in the Championship during the second half of last season.
The report in The Scottish Sun has also claimed that Liverpool will demand rental fees are paid if Wilson does not play enough matches, and this could play in Celtic’s advantage and be a disadvantage for Rangers.
Celtic are financially in a much better position than Rangers are, and the Hoops can afford to spend money on big transfers and on wages.
At the end of the season, what will matter to Celtic is winning another domestic treble and progressing to the group stage of the Champions League.
If the Hoops are able to do that, then they will not mind paying any fees that Liverpool may demand should Wilson not play enough matches.
Rangers cannot afford to do that. New manager and Liverpool manager Gerrard needs players who can make an impact, and he also needs to be able to manage the Gers’ budget well, as the Glasgow giants cannot afford to have a player who is unable to contribute to the team.
