The midfielder could leave Celtic and fight for Championship promotion with Fulham.
Back in July, the Daily Record reported that Celtic had sent interested suitors Espanyol scarpering by planting a £10 million price tag on the head of midfielder Nir Bitton.
Therefore, it speaks volumes about his declining importance to the Scottish Champions that, just half a season later, they are ready to sanction his January departure to Championship side Fulham for £8 million less, per the Scottish Sun.
The Israeli international may be a joy to watch on occasions with his sweeping passes and eye for the spectacular making him one of the most naturally gifted players in the league but, due to the excellent partnership forged by a rejuvenated Scott Brown and workaholic Stuart Armstrong, Bitton has started just once since October.
And, in a further blow to his Celtic career, he was overlooked for New Year’s Eve’s Old Firm clash with Rangers for the divisive Callum McGregor.
Brendan Rodgers has already flogged one of his most talented midfielders in Stefan Johansen to Craven Cottage this season and the prospect of reuniting with his good friend in the capital is surely likely to appeal to a player whose career is in need of a jump-start.
But what to Celtic fans think about Bitton’s possible exit?
Bitton could leave for £2m and that pretty much sums up his decline at Celtic since last year. Could’ve been worth much more than that.
