Scottish Premiership champions Celtic were reportedly interested in Hibs star John McGinn in the summer.

If Celtic were still interested in a future deal for John McGinn, the Hibernian midfielder could hardly had laid claim to a better audition at Parkhead on Saturday.
The 22-year-old stood out in the home of the Champions, hitting the target with two smart finishes as Celtic were forced to come from behind to snatch a 2-2 draw – and drop points at home for the first time this season.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’ claims that McGinn is ‘the type of player you love as a manager’, made back in February following a Scottish Cup Edinburgh derby against Hearts, may now take on extra significance.

The Daily Record reported in the summer that Celtic were interested in pursuing a deal for the Scotland international midfielder, and Rodgers will no doubt have been impressed by a superb two-goal performance that only reinforces McGinn’s status as one of Scotland’s most exciting young players.
The report suggested that Celtic see McGinn as a long-term replacement for skipper Scott Brown and, while the youngster has a long way to go before matching the veteran midfielder in terms of influence or reputation, there is no doubt about his vast potential.
And, on the back of an excellent display against his potential future employers, a number of Celtic fans are counting down the days until McGinn is playing at the base of The Hoops’ midfield.
