Jack Hendry helped Scotland keep a clean sheet in Tuesday’s 1-0 win, and fans of Scottish Premiership giants Celtic were delighted.

There is no way you would have thought that Jack Hendry was making his Scotland debut in Tuesday night’s friendly clash with Hungary.
Because the 22-year-old centre-back showed no signs of nerves in a confident and composed display that belied his age and inexperience on the international stage.
It has been quite the season for Hendry. A little known talent when he joined Dundee in the summer after failing to make the breakthrough at Wigan Athletic, the ball-playing defender shone at Dens Park and earned a £1.5 million move to Celtic just six months later, as reported by the Daily Record.

And, after just four league appearances for the Hoops, Hendry’s whirlwind campaign was topped off by his maiden international cap in the 1-0 win away at Hungary.
It was a Matt Phillips goal that got Alex McLeish’s second spell in charge of Scotland underway, but the result was sealed by a sterling defensive effort, led by the evergreen goalkeeper Allan McGregor, Hendry and fellow debutant Scott McKenna.
Alongside Charlie Mulgrew and the Aberdeen stopper, Hendry looked a perfect fit in McLeish’s three-man back line and dealt with the considerable physical presence of Adam Szalai with aplomb.

No wonder the Celtic fans took to Twitter to applaud their new number four.
