Efe Ambrose would like to return to the Scottish Premiership but will Neil Lennon bring the defender back to Celtic?

Efe Ambrose will forever hold a special place in Neil Lennon’s heart.
The giant centre-back helped guide Celtic to two Scottish Premiership titles in Lennon’s first, trophy-laden spell in the Parkhead dugout. But, as fans of Hibernian will tell you, Ambrose played the best football of his career under the Northern Irishman at Easter Road.
“When he puts his mind at ease he’s a top-class player. Efe has been magnificent,” Lennon told Edinburgh News in October 2018.
So there must be a slight temptation, knowing away at the back of Lennon’s mind, to once again reunite with a player he clearly has a lot of time for. Especially with Ambrose a free agent and admitting to the Daily Record that he’d be more than happy to return to Scotland in the autumn of his career.

But Celtic fans and Lennon have never seen eye to eye on the Nigerian international.
A player so clearly revered by his former manager remains deeply unpopular among the Hoops faithful and the prospect of a return to the green half of Glasgow has fans taking to Twitter in their droves in the hope that they never see Ambrose in the green and white stripes again.
