Former Derby County striker Darren Bent admits he would jump at the chance to join Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

Darren Bent has told Goals on Sunday that he would jump at the chance to sign for Celtic should the opportunity arise. But would the former England international be well received at Parkhead? Not exactly.
“It’s something I’ve looked at. It’s obviously a league that’s fascinating,” Bent said, admitting that Celtic had expressed an interest in the past.
“When you talk about Rangers and Celtic you talk about arguably two of the biggest clubs in world football. It’s definitely something I would do, yeah.”

Bent is a player who has represented Tottenham, Aston Villa and Sunderland throughout an impressive career at the top level, scoring 106 Premier League goals and a further four with the Three Lions on his chest.
But that was a long time ago. Having turned 35 in February, it is fair to say that Bent is past his best. He has not played a competitive game since an ill-fated loan spell at Burton Albion last season, where he scored just twice in 15 games as the Brewers were relegated from the Championship.
Celtic are a club that has built success upon signing young, promising talents before selling them on for a proft. Think Virgil van Dijk, Moussa Dembele and Victor Wanyama.
Bent, meanwhile, is pretty much the opposite of the archetypal Celtic signing. He should not hold his breath then.
