Chelsea’s Charly Musonda has been once again linked with a move to the Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers a big fan.

Reports linking Celtic with a move for Chelsea wonder-kid Charly Musonda have barely gone away since the middle of last summer.

The Daily Record reported in July that the Scottish Premiership champions were enamoured with the fleet-footed Belgian and were desperate to bring him to Parkhead. Celtic were even willing to pay £5 million; just £1 million shy of the club’s record signing.

And six months later, Celtic are once again in the frame. Musonda is expected to leave Chelsea on loan this month after the arrival of Ross Barkley pushed him further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

According to The Mail, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring Musonda, as well as fellow Blues starlet Lewis Baker, to Parkhead this month.

But with Goal stating that Chelsea feel the 21-year-old would benefit more from staying in the Premier League, it appears that English suitors like Newcastle United, West Brom, Watford and Bournemouth have a distinct advantage, which has not gone down well with Celtic supporters.

Musonda is a truly elite talent and, despite his tender years and lack of first-team experience, has the potential to make an impact at Celtic akin to that of Patrick Roberts.

But the Parkhead faithful fear that the chance has passed them by.
