John McGinn was far from his best as Hibs were defeated 1-0 by Edinburgh rivals Hearts but do fans of champions Celtic still want him?

John McGinn has been surprisingly absent from the gossip columns this month.
The Hibernian midfielder was one of Britain’s most in-demand players in the summer with Sunderland, Celtic, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town reportedly keen.
And it was expected that there would be a scramble for his signature again this month with the Nottingham Post stating that Forest were preparing to make a fourth bid and the Sun claiming that West Ham, whose manager David Moyes wanted McGinn at Sunderland, were the latest team to join the party.

Although in the aftermath of Hibs’ 1-0 Scottish Cup fourth round defeat to Edinburgh rivals Hearts on Sunday, some Celtic fans are keen for their side to pull out of the race for one of the countries’ hottest prospects.
McGinn was pretty much anonymous at Tynecastle; outplayed by that special 16-year-old by the name of Harry Cochrane.
It would seem a little unfair to judge McGinn on the basis of one 90-minute showing but his performance did not exactly suggest that he is worth a punt with Hibs demanding £5 million-plus.

McGinn did score twice as Hibs earned a deserved draw with Celtic earlier in the season but, in the eyes of the Parkhead faithful, he is not the standard of player that would immediately enhance the champions’ squad.
