Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers knows Simon Mignolet well from his time at Premier League giants Liverpool – but will he attempt a reunion at Parkhead?

Celtic need a new goalkeeper this summer and Brendan Rodgers’ former £9 million shot-stopper Simon Mignolet is on the lookout for a new club.
So it was simply inevitable that the Belgian would be discussed for a potential reunion with his one-time Liverpool manager ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Mignolet has lost his place at Anfield to Loris Karius and, with the Mirror claiming that The Reds are looking at both Jack Butland and Alisson Becker, it seems he has no future on Merseyside. Belgian publication HLN claims that he might have already played his last game for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

But in the eyes of Celtic supporters, Mignolet should not be their long-term future number one, especially not when Scott Bain is available for free at the end of this season.
26-year-old Bain has played just twice for Celtic since his loan move from Dundee in January but has earned rave reviews on the back of an Old Firm derby win against Rangers, in which he made a brilliant save to deny Alfredo Morelos at 2-2, and a clean-sheet away to Motherwell.

And, given the choice between Mignolet and Bain, there’s only one man the Celtic supporters would choose.
