Celtic face massive Kieran Tierney challenge with Premier League quartet reportedly keen

Celtic’s Scottish Premiership star Kieran Tierney is reportedly a player in demand.

Fortunately for Celtic, Kieran Tierney is a born and bred Bhoys fanatic. This could come in very useful indeed with the Scottish Premiership champions facing a major challenge to hold onto their influential left-back.

As reported by the Mail, Everton have set aside £25 million to make a bid for Tierney, who would be a readymade successor for Leighton Baines and would therefore immediately solve the Toffees’ left-back problem.

Long-standing suitors Tottenham are also understood to be keen again and can offer Champions League football and a genuine tilt at the title. Wolves and Bournemouth, meanwhile, have the funds to match Everton’s £25 million interest, The Mail adds.

It’s going to be a long summer for Celtic fans then. And no matter what else Celtic were planning to do this summer, either with regards to incomings or outgoings, keeping Tierney should now have become the Scottish champions’ number one priority before the window closes on August 9.

Celtic are used to losing key players every summer and have already bid farewell to Stuart Armstrong, while Moussa Dembele, Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata are also attracting interest.

They are all replaceable, however, while Tierney simply isn’t. He is a homegrown talent, a bonafide fans’ favourite who acts as the perfect posterboy for the club. And signing a player of comparable quality would surely be beyond Celtic’s means.

Simply put, if Tierney leaves they might have to wait a long time to find someone capable of stepping into his shoes.
