Scottish Premiership champions Celtic took Gavin Bazunu on trial – but Premier League giants City and Spurs are now reportedly leading the chase.

Gavin Bazunu has been a revelation since emerging onto the scene at Shamrock Rovers. He has made just six first-team appearances so far but conceded only twice in that time, both against AIK in the Europa League qualifiers, while he has managed to keep the experienced Northern Ireland international Alan Mannus out of the starting XI.
No wonder some of Britain’s big hitters are interested. But it seems that Scottish Premiership champions Celtic face a major challenge if they want to lure Bazunu to Glasgow.
The Irish Sun have reported that Bazunu had a trial at Celtic earlier in the summer – but it seems that two bonafide Premier League giants are now in front of Brendan Rodgers’ side in the race.
The Irish Independent claimed on Tuesday that Tottenham Hotspur had made a bid of £180,000 for the teenage shot-stopper. And the same publication is now stating on Friday that Manchester City are in pole position with a decision on his future potentially set to be made next week.
It is expected that Bazunu will earn Shamrock Rovers around £350,000 – but he will stay in Ireland until next year when he finishes his school exams.
He might only be 16 but Celtic should be really disappointed if they miss out on the sort of talent who doesn’t appear too often.
