With one trophy in the bag already, 2016/17 is already shaping up to be rather successful under Brendan Rodgers.
Celtic captain Scott Brown has told the Evening Times that he has been impressed by the performances of the club’s new signings so far this season and would welcome even more arrivals in January.
The Hoops completed a number of impressive transfers in the summer, with new manager Brendan Rodgers bringing in winger Scott Sinclair, reuniting the partnership that inspired Swansea City to the Premier League in 2011, while signing Fulham prodigy Moussa Dembele (below) despite reported interest from some of Europe’s most affluent clubs.
And the forward duo have been exceptional so far, Dembele in particular standing out to such a degree that he is already being linked with a mega-money exit in the coming transfer window, although the France under-21 international insists he is happy to stay at Celtic Park.
And Brown, who lifted the 100th trophy in Celtic’s illustrious history after they cruised past Aberdeen 3-0 win the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday, admits he would be more than happy to see even more additions being made to an already talented squad in January.
“That is not up to me to make those decisions,” Brown, who has rediscovered his best form under Rodgers, told the Evening Times.
“If the gaffer brings anyone over January then we would be delighted but you just never know. We will take it from there.
“What you would say is that the guys the gaffer brought in to the team have given us pace, they’ve brought legs to the team and we have real attacking options. We look like we are capable of scoring goals every time we go forward.”
Celtic have been linked with a loan move for Everton midfielder and Bhoys fan James McCarthy in recent weeks, with the potential deal suggesting that the Scottish champions are now able to cast their net a little wider and are no longer restricted to domestic buys and cheap foreign imports.
