Scottish Premiership giants Rangers paid £1.3m to sign Fabio Cardoso in the summer but the Portuguese centre-back may be about to leave Ibrox already.

Rangers player Fabio Cardoso has looked up against it in Scottish football ever since being given the run around by Conor Sammon in September’s clash with Partick Thistle.
Much was expected of the Portuguese centre-back when he arrived at Ibrox from Vitoria Setubal for £1.3 million in the summer, as reported by the Daily Record. But, like most of Pedro Caixinha’s imported arrivals, the 23-year-old simply has not looked up to scratch in the unforgiving, harsh environment of Scottish football.

It is telling that, since Pedro Caixinha was handed his P45 in late October, Cardoso has played just 45 minutes of football under interim coach Graeme Murty.
With Danny Wilson restoring his place in the back four and Ross McCrorie getting better by the week, it already appears that Cardoso has no future at Ibrox – or at least not as long as Murty remains at the helm.

As a result, reports in the Daily Record that he could be gone as soon as January may come as little surprise. The report states that struggling Primeira Liga side Estoril need a new centre-back in January and plan to offer the former Benfica youngster the chance to return to his homeland in the New Year.
Although it seems that few Rangers fans will be disappointed to bid Cardoso farewell based on the comments below:
