Rangers reportedly want to raid Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts for Aaron Hickey with new Director of Football Ross Wilson a big fan.
Ross Wilson is hardly letting the grass grow beneath his feet at Ibrox.
The 36-year-old has only been Rangers’ director of football for 24 hours but, according to the Scottish Sun, he is already recommending new signings to manager Steven Gerrard.
The report claims that Wilson wants to make Hearts exciting left-back Aaron Hickey his first signing at the Glasgow giants, having targeted the teenage wideman when he was still unearthing gems on behalf of Southampton (Scottish Sun).
Hickey has come from nowhere to become one of the first names on Hearts’ team sheet in the blinking of an eye with the Jambos desperate to extend the contract of an academy graduate who scored a dramatic late winner in the Edinburgh derby recently to break Hibernian hearts.
Hickey’s Celtic past should be no concern either for a Rangers side who will be fully focused on identifying and snapping up the hottest local talent with Wilson pulling the strings. The days of Joey Barton, Niko Kranjcar and Bruno Alves are over.
But Hearts have a history when it comes to stopping Rangers from getting what they want with that drawn-out Jamie Walker saga still fresh in the memory.
