Marco Meneghetti has to choose between Serie A and the Premier League with both Inter Milan and West Ham United eyeing the young goalkeeper.

West Ham United may find that signing Italian wonderkid Marco Meneghetti is easier said than done this summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed back in March that the 17-year-old goalkeeper, who plays for Serie C side Pordenone, is on the radar of the Premier League side but they are not alone in trying to take Meneghetti from the lower reaches of Italian football.

According to Calciomeracto, Inter Milan are also big fans of the teenage shot-stopper and could make a move to bring him to the San Siro this summer.

It is interesting to wonder whether Inter have been inspired by city rivals Milan, who gave Gianluigi Donarumma his first team debut aged 16 and have watched the Italian blossom into arguably the world’s most promising young goalkeeper.

So it would take a great deal of bravery for Meneghetti to choose a move to London rather than stay in Italy and hone his trade at one of the country’s biggest clubs.

West Ham’s interest is serious, with Pordenone president Mauro Lovisa telling Tuttomercatoweb recently that the Premier League side had emailed him to confirm their interest in the young goalkeeper.

And Meneghetti, when making his decision, should remember that West Ham have one of the most historically prosperous academies in English football with the likes of Declan Rice, Reece Burke and Josh Cullen breaking into the first-team of late.
