While West Ham United are bottom of the Premier League, Edimilson Fernandes’s Fiorentina have a 100 per cent Serie A record.

West Ham United’s midfield has made for painful viewing so far this season.
Mark Noble and Jack Wilshere were completely overrun in the 4-0 opening day defeat at Liverpool and were nowhere to be seen as Callum Wilson ran from the halfway line to score for Bournemouth at the London Stadium.
Unsurprisingly, a 31-year-old and an injury-prone free agent are not exactly blessed with boundless energy. And, if West Ham fans were hoping that new signing Carlos Sanchez could do a better job, his last-minute gaffe which led to Wolves’ winning goal on Saturday was not the greatest first impression.
So a number of supporters have started to question the decision to let Edimilson Fernandes join Fiorentina on a season-long loan. According to the Standard, La Viola have the option to make his deal permanent, too.

While West Ham toil, Fernandes has made a great start to life in Italy. The 22-year-old started the 6-1 opening day thrashing of Chievo and impressed at the base of midfield during Sunday’s 1-0 win against Udinese.
Fernandes was never the most gifted player but at least he would have offered what West Ham are lacking – energy and commendable work rate.
