Premier League outfit Southampton reportedly want Nicolas Pepe and Rafael Toloi, who are also targets for La Liga champions Barca and Serie A giants Inter respectively.
Southampton could be about to do battle with two of the biggest and most historic clubs in European football in the near future.
After just six Premier League games, The Saints already appear to be putting together a list of transfer targets ahead of the January transfer window.
The Sun reported that they are keeping tabs on the highly-rated Lille winger Nicolas Pepe while Sport Mediaset claims that Atalanta defender Rafael Toloi is Southampton’s number one target as things stand.
Unfortunately for Mark Hughes’ side, however, Pepe and Toloi have also attracted the attention of some Champions League giants.
El Mundo Deportivo claimed that Barcelona are also very interested in Ivory Coast international Pepe, who has scored four goals and set up three more already this season.
Calciomercato, meanwhile, adds that Inter Milan are keen on Toloi, who has proven himself as one of the most reliable centre-backs in Serie A since joining Atalanta from Roma three years ago.
Now, Southampton’s usually reliable recruitment department has come under criticism from some supporters of late, particularly as they battled relegation for most of last season. But winning battles against Barcelona and Inter Milan would be a massive step in the right direction.
