Callum McGregor has become the go-to man for Brendan Rodgers with Celtic top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Callum McGregor has gone from fringe player for both club and country to being simply indispensable for Celtic and Scotland.
It has been quite the rise for the 25-year-old midfielder – and his ability to play in a variety of different positions and formations has certainly stood him in good stead.
McGregor has shone in the centre, wide on the left and even in Scott Brown’s deep midfield role in Celtic colours this season. But maybe Brendan Rodgers has only scratched the surface of the academy graduate’s versatility.
“When I was younger, I had a season at centre-back, then one at left-back, then I was back in midfield, off the front – I’ve played every position,” McGregor, who has won the Scottish Premiership four times, told the Scotsman.
Food for thought, then, for Rodgers. Because it has been well documented that Celtic are short of depth at centre-back, particularly with the future of Dedryck Boyata and Filip Benkovic uncertain beyond January.

Furthermore, there appears to be a lack of support for Kieran Tierney on the left of defence too with the experienced Emilio Izaguirre out of favour since returning to Parkhead after a spell in the Middle East.
So if a defensive injury crisis ever arises, perhaps Rodgers can once again put his faith in McGregor.
