Rangers’ Jamie Barjonas left the Scottish Premiership for a spell in League Two with Bury in the summer transfer window.

It has been a fine couple of weeks for a number of players who left Rangers on loan during the summer.

Greg Docherty enhanced his growing reputation with a brilliant goal for Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup clash against Salford on Wednesday, Jak Alnwick has impressed between the sticks at Scunthorpe United, while Zak Rudden has looked the part for Falkirk too.

But how is Jamie Barjonas faring at League Two outfit Bury?

The 19-year-old midfielder has been far from a regular for the Lancashire outfit so far, making just four appearances in the fourth tier of English football. And he has been left on the bench for each of Bury’s last three League One games.

But that does not mean Shakers boss Ryan Lowe is not a fan – far from it.

“He’s been good for us, he’s had his ups and downs, he’s a cracking little player, he’s just not had that opportunity as yet,” Lowe told a press conference before Bury’s away trip to Cambridge United on Saturday, as reported by the club’s official website.

The test for Barjonas now is to establish himself in the Bury side on a regular basis and prove that he can be trusted to start in League Two.

The Leeds-born Scotland U19 international has made nine appearances for Rangers since making his debut in 2017.
