£28m Everton flop Yannick Bolasie is being linked with a move to Newcastle United with Steve Bruce set to return to the Premier League with the Magpies.

Three years after Everton signed Yannick Bolasie for £28 million (the Guardian), it seems the Toffees fans cannot wait to usher him out of the door.

Bolasie’s Goodison Park career was doomed as soon as he suffered that horrible cruciate ligament injury just months after arriving on Merseyside from Crystal Palace.

These days, he’s an expensive white elephant, returning to Everton following loan spells at Aston Villa and Anderlecht with very little hope of a fresh start under Marco Silva.

Fortunately for Everton, however, Newcastle United could be about to take him off their hands.

According to 90Min, Steve Bruce wants to reunite with a winger he worked with briefly at Villa to Newcastle United once he is officially confirmed as Rafa Benitez’s successor at St James’ Park. According to the Liverpool Echo, the 30-year-old has a £10 million release-clause in his contract.

And it speaks volumes about Bolasie’s fall from grace that Everton fans simply cannot believe that Newcastle would be interested in handing the much-maligned wideman a clean slate on Tyneside.

Quite simply, this is the kind of underwhelming, unambitious addition Newcastle supporters would have been worried about when Bruce emerged as their number one managerial target.
