For the second transfer deadline day in a row, Crystal Palace have failed to bring Danish international goalkeeper Frederick Ronnow to the Premier League.

Frederik Ronnow has now missed his chance to move to England in two successive transfer windows.

The Danish international goalkeeper had expressed an interest in moving on to bigger and better things than Brondby as far back as the summer but, despite a lot of interest from both Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, he remains in his homeland for the rest of the season.

As reported by the Nottingham Post, Forest made three bids to sign Ronnow in the summer but he turned down a move to the City Ground as he was not convinced about a switch to English football’s second tier.

But it appears that Palace came closer to getting their man. According to BT, the Eagles were very close to bringing Ronnow to Selhurst Park but they left it too late to get the deal over the line.

Déjà vu, then, for Ronnow, who saw a move to Palace fall through late in the summer, too. And it appears that the 25-year-old is not too happy about being denied his chance in the Premier League.

“I’ve been tired of the whole situation because I’ve been through it once before. But I’ve learned from it. It just gives me even more motivation,” Ronnow told BT (1 February, sports pull out).

“I’m obviously annoyed but also motivated. I could choose to go and cry in the corner, but I wouldn’t get anything out of it.”

Ronnow is expected to be included in Denmark’s World Cup squad in Russia this summer but will more than likely be behind Leicester City shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel in the pecking order.

And his failed move to London leaves Palace without the goalkeeper they had craved in January, meaning Roy Hodgson will have to make do with the unconvincing duo of Julien Speroni and Wayne Hennessey.
