Scottish Premiership giants Rangers want Jordan Jones from Kilmarnock but Championship high-flyers Bristol City are keen to.

Rangers fans will be hoping the answer is Ibrox, but the chances of the Northern Irishman swapping Kilmarnock for the Glasgow giants might just have been decreased a little further.

According to the Daily Record, Rangers saw a £350,000 bid rejected by Killie earlier in the month but, after devoting all their time and effort to getting a deal for Hamilton starlet Greg Docherty over the line, links with Jones have grown cold of late.

And it appears that Bristol City have taken advantage of the lull to throw themselves headfirst into the race for the former Middlesbrough starlet.

The Mail states that the Robins have made contact with Kilmarnock about possibly signing the 23-year-old, who the Rugby Park club may be forced to cash in on with just 18 months remaining on his contract.

And while Rangers are undoubtedly one of the biggest and most prestigious clubs in Britain, and would give Jones the opportunity to strut his stuff in front of 50,000 on a bi-weekly basis, there is a nagging feeling that Bristol City would offer Jones the better opportunities.

Not only are the Robins still in the mix for promotion, sitting fourth in the Championship and just two points off second, so many exciting youngsters have developed beyond expectations at Ashton Gate.

Previously precocious talents like Jamie Paterson and Bobby Reid have developed into players with Premier League potential while Marlon Pack, Aden Flint and co have taken their game to new and unexpected levels under manager Lee Johnson.

It would make little sense for Jones to turn down one of English football’s rising sides, even with Rangers waiting in the wings.
