Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham has 23 Championship goals for Aston Villa this season, matching his tally from a previous loan spell at Bristol City.

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has described Tammy Abraham as a ‘Premier League player’ as he prepares to reunite with the Aston Villa striker, in quotes reported by the Bristol Post.
Sitting fifth and sixth in the Championship table respectively, Villa and Bristol City will meet in a potentially decisive clash on Saturday with a place in the end-of-season play-offs on the line for both clubs.
And the Robins will have to find a way to stop Villa’s England international from continuing his sensational run of form in front of goal. In 35 league starts, Abraham has scored 23 times for Dean Smith’s side this season.
As a result, the Chelsea loanee has equalled his tally from that superb 2016/17 spell at Bristol City in seven fewer games – a feat that has Johnson claiming that his future lies in the top tier of English football.
“I was very honoured to coach a player of his quality and he’s obviously gone on now to make his full England debut and he’s a full international as well,” said Johnson, who was Abraham’s manager during that spell at Ashton Gate.

“He’s a Premier League player in my eyes and credit to Aston Villa for getting a Premier League player.
“He’s got a nice family and I wish him all the best, but obviously not against us, but we know that we’re going to have to deal with that threat on Saturday.”
Abraham has scored just three times in his last ten games, meaning he is three behind Norwich City talisman Teemu Pukki in the race for the Championship Golden Boot.
