Vegard Forren failed to play a single minute for Southampton or Brighton and Hove Albion, but will it be third time lucky at Aston Villa?

Vegard Forren has had two separate spells in English football.
The Norwegian international arrived at Southampton in January 2013 for a fee of £4.2 million, as reported by the Daily Mail. And, four years on, he joined Championship promotion chasers Brighton and Hove Albion midway through the 2016/17 season.
Therefore, you would expect that Forren would have plenty of English football experience under his belt. However, that could not be further from the truth. Because the 29-year-old did not manage a single appearance for either club.
Forren departed Southampton and returned to former club Molde after just five months on the South Coast.

And, thanks in part to a series of injuries, he did not play a single minute as Brighton reached the Premier League last season.
Therefore, this makes reports linking him with a summer move to Aston Villa all the more surprising.
Eurosport claim that the 33-time international wanted to return for a third spell at Molde, only for manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer to slam the door on a potential move.

Therefore, the report adds that he may be on his way to Aston Villa, who tried to sign him in January before Brighton sealed their swoop.
Forren only signed a deal at The Amex until the end of the season and his inability to make any sort of impact means it appears unlikely that Brighton will offer him another contract.
He will be available on a free, which would suit a Villa side who could be limited in their spending this summer thanks to Financial Fair Play restrictions, as reported by The Telegraph.
Furthermore, with Tommy Elphick likely to be shipped out, Villa will need reinforcements at the back.

But will Forren finally make his league debut in England?
